North Oregon Coast

The North Oregon Coast stretches from Astoria to the more southern reaches of Tillamook providing visitors with a wide variety of opportunities for recreational activities as well as exploring area attractions.

Traveling south from Cannon Beach, you’ll discover the Nehalem Bay area with the three quaint villages of Manzanita on the beach, Nehalem on the river, and Wheeler on the bay. Kayaking, fishing, hiking, beach combing, antiquing, shopping, and picturesque views are extraordinary and exciting.

Further south, the town of Tillamook offers a variety of attractions. Highlights include:

Tillamook Naval Air Museum — one of America’s finest collection of over 30 war birds, housed blimps during World War II, and is the largest wooden structure in the world.

Tillamook County Pioneer Museum — established in the 1930’s, this old courthouse is now the home of the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum. The museum is intriguing both inside and out. On the main floor of the museum is a replica of the tree stump “house” where Joseph Champion, the county’s first white settler, lived after he arrived by boat in 1851. Other displays fill the building to capacity.

Tillamook Creamery Visitor’s Center — this is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Oregon. Enjoy the self-guided tour featuring videos of the cheese making process, cheese samples, and gift shop.

An exceptional scenic drive is the Three Capes Scenic Drive, taking you past many of the highlights of the coastline including Cape Kiwanda, Cape Lookout, and Cape Meares.
